Prescott Accounting Firm Schutte & Hilgendorf Announces Expansion of Government Auditing Services

Schutte & Hilgendorf announced today that they have made the decision to expand their audit practice to include governmental auditing services. Schutte & Hilgendorf has made a strong commitment to this sector and is one of the few firms in the Prescott area that meets the new stringent  educational requirements imposed for audits performed in accordance with Governmental Auditing Standards.

Asked why the firm would expand their focus on the government accounting and auditing sector, partner Gidget Schutte said, “there are very few local public accounting firms willing to do Government audits because of the additional time and resources required, causing many entities to look in the Phoenix area for their accounting and auditing services. We want to be THE local firm that Northern Arizona government entities, cities, towns, non-profit organizations, and schools consider when going out to bid for their annual audits.  We have the resources and the expertise to do the work and we’re right here in Yavapai County.”

Often, government audits are done by inexperienced entry level staff, but S&H’s government auditing staff is experienced and well-versed in the challenges of this sector.  Nationally, all governmental auditing professionals must meet or exceed the continuing education requirements of the Government Auditing Standards.  In addition, firms are required to undergo a formal examination process known as peer review every three years, and specially trained CPAs from other firms examine and thoroughly evaluate the quality control standards and test policies and procedures to ensure that high standards are maintained.

Schutte & Hilgendorf is a local Certified Public Accounting firm serving all of Yavapai County and performs audit, tax, and accounting services for individuals, non-profits, government, and businesses.  S&H has specialized knowledge of government funded Non-Profit Organization’s and Homeowner Association’s tax and accounting issues.
