Slater & Rutherford, PLLC (formerly Schutte & Hilgendorf) started operating under its new name on May 26, 2021 and has been an established local accounting firm serving its clients in Prescott since 2008.

Upholding the value of personal attention and accessibility, we are proud to continue serving the greater Prescott area with a full range of services (taxes, audits, reviews, financial statements, small business accounting, advisory services) to individuals, for-profit, non-profit organizations, and homeowner associations (HOA’s). Our staff has the experience of a national firm and the personality of a home-town office. We are always looking for savings for our clients and strive for efficiency by welcoming new technologies.

Gidget Slater

CPA, Managing Partner

Gidget Slater brings to Slater & Rutherford over 30 years of experience as a CPA. She started her career at the international firm Deloitte & Touche where she was an auditor for 4 years in Orange County and San Francisco, obtaining her CPA certificate in 1992. For the next nine years in the San Francisco area, she worked in various accounting and financial management positions at public and pre-IPO companies in the medical distribution, software, and high-tech industries. Gidget graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a BA in Business Economics with Honors. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, and the Arizona Society of CPAs. She served on the Board of the Prescott Area Habitat for Humanity as Treasurer in 2001-2002. She currently serves as Treasurer for Northpoint Community Action Team, Prescott High School Basketball Boosters, Santa Fe Springs Office Park POA and the Greater Prescott Area Tax Credit Coalition. She has a daughter, Mackenzie, who is 18 and a son, Slater, who is 17. She enjoys hiking with her dog Bella, cooking, and glamping.

Adam Rutherford

CPA, Tax Partner

Adam started at Slater & Rutherford in 2009. After graduating from Northern Arizona University with a BA in Accountancy in 2005, he moved back to Prescott and received his CPA license in 2008. Adam has experience in bookkeeping, accounting, auditing and tax preparation. A native of Prescott, Adam is married to wife Mary Ann and has two children, Jacob and Lillian. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Arizona Society of CPAs, and is the treasurer for several organizations, including Central Arizona Partnership. Adam enjoys traveling, watching movies, and going to Disneyland as often as possible.

Kimala Hockey

E.A., Tax Manager

Kimala is an Enrolled Agent and Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor. She joined Slater & Rutherford, PLLC because she was impressed by the integrity and professionalism of the team and the flawless reputation of the firm. Kimala has over 33 years of experience in the accounting and tax industry, and a genuine desire to produce the best possible results for her clients. She is an Arizona native who moved to Prescott in 1997 from Crown King, Arizona. When she has free time, she loves cooking, reading, skiing, golfing, bowling, and watching sports of all kinds. She particularly loves watching grandchildren who play baseball, volleyball and various other sports.

Monica Fuller

CPA, Accounting Manager

Monica has lived in Arizona since the early 90’s and currently works remotely from Kingman where she lives with her husband, Matt, and two kids, Maddy and Myles, on her in-law’s ranch. Besides a small sprint in child care, her entire career has been in the accounting field. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Phoenix in 2011, passed the CPA exam shortly after and in 2015 became partner of the CPA firm where she worked at the time. She joined Slater & Rutherford’s team in 2020 when we acquired that firm. Outside work hours she enjoys cooking and visiting with family.

Cathie Weber

Office Manager

Cathie joined Slater & Rutherford in early 2021 after relocating to Prescott from California. She was employed for several years at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) and has spent much of her career as an event and conference planner in education as well as for non-profits and in the public/private sector. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from CSUSB in 2007 and a Certificate in Marketing from University of California, Riverside Extension in 2012. In her spare time, she enjoys running, reading, traveling, and shopping. She and her husband love exploring this beautiful city with their dog, Gerda.

Kacy Fuller

CPA, Operations Manager/Tax/Accounting

Kacy Fuller is a business professional with proven record of success for over 26 years in finance and accounting, project management and small business consulting. She earned her B.A. in Business Economics from University of California, Los Angeles and holds California CPA license since 2000 and Project Management Professional certification since 2009. She started her career at KPMG and worked in various industries, banking, technology, hospitality and real estate. She and her husband with their four-legged kids moved to beautiful Prescott in 2020 and enjoys trying new recipes, anything outdoors and giving back to the community.

Jean Carhart

E.A., Tax Accountant

Jean is an Enrolled Agent and joined S&R in August 2019 when she decided to make Prescott her full-time home. Prior to joining S&R, she ran her own tax preparation business for 5 years in Phoenix. Jean grew up in Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1983 with a degree in Finance. Soon after, she relocated to Phoenix and received her MBA from Arizona State University in 1993. Before doing taxes, she held many positions in the IT field from software and network support, training and project management. Jean likes college football (especially the Huskers), hiking, reading and genealogy. She also stays active with her church, P.E.O. and the Nebraska alumni group.

Rachel Smith

Senior Staff Accountant

Rachel joined Slater & Rutherford in May of 2018. She is an Arizona native and grew up in Prescott. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Northern Arizona University in 2002 with the intention of being in upper management in the banking industry. In 2003, she married her husband, Kevin, and then as they say, life happened. She is the proud mom of her son Ryan and daughter Kori. She returned to the banking industry work force in 2011 and discovered it was not what she was called to do. In 2013 she went to work for a locally-owned bookkeeping company and found it was her calling. The past year she decided she wanted to advance her knowledge of the accounting industry and chose to join our team. She is currently looking into pursuing her Masters in Accountancy. In her spare time, she likes to watch her children in various sports they do, read, hike, and go hunting, with her family.

Nancy Phillips

Senior Staff Accountant

Nancy grew up in the Verde Valley and after graduating from Camp Verde High School she relocated to Phoenix. Nancy and her husband have recently moved back to the Verde Valley to be closer to family. For over 25 years, she has enjoyed working in all aspects of the accounting field. Nancy came to the Slater & Rutherford team in 2020 when we acquired the firm she had previously worked. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family and friends, camping, fishing, and road trips.

Sally Evans

Staff Accountant

Sally joined Slater & Rutherford at the start of 2023. She is a Prescott, Arizona native who, after spending 13 years in the Valley, returned to her hometown with her two boys. In 2007, she graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. After college, she began her career in project management, but decided she ultimately wanted to pursue a career in Accounting, so she obtained her Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Grand Canyon University in 2010. Shortly after receiving her degree, she was offered a position as a Communications Manager, for the company that served the healthcare needs of military service members and Veterans. After nearly 15 years in the fields of project management and communications, Sally began bookkeeping for a small Prescott company, which reinvigorated her desire to make a career in Accounting. She is excited to have the opportunity to learn from the best of the best at Slater & Rutherford! In her spare time, Sally enjoys singing, dancing, and traveling.

Diana Gimon-Jones

Staff Accountant

Diana was born in Romania and moved to the states at 3 years old. She lived in Chicago and then settled in Phoenix. She graduated from Arizona State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Business. She started her career in banking and transitioned to accounting where she found her passion. She joined the amazing team of Slater & Rutherford in late 2023. Diana is married to husband, Devon, and has two boys, Clay and Declan and dog, Zeus. She enjoys being involved in Church, hiking at national parks, and cooking. Her dream is to one day have a farm.
