The IRS released a notice today stating the due date for making Federal income tax payments due April 15, 2020 is postponed to July 15, 2020. This applies to balances due for 2019 tax returns and the 2020 first quarter estimated tax payments. There is no relief granted for the due date of the tax return or extension due April 15th. You will still be required to file an extension by April 15th, if you will not be able to file on time. Here is a link to the IRS’ notice https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-20-17.pdf.
They have not extended the 2020 second quarter estimated tax payment date of June 15, 2020. So, as of now, the second quarter payment will be due before the first quarter payment. We will let you know of any changes to that.
The Arizona Department of Revenue has not released any guidance on if Arizona will be extending the due date as well. We will keep you posted on any updates.
As always stay healthy and safe!
